Novak Djokovic - 10/1
World number four, Novak Djokovic has long been regarded as a player who could win Wimbledon, but his form does not look quite good enough to win this year. In fact Djokovic lost his number three world ranking earlier this year to Andy Murray but he is solid at number four and as such will be seeded to reach the semi finals this year. He is a 12/1 shot in the mens singles betting to win the title this year.
In fact Djokovic reached the semi finals in 2007 but was forced to retire in the match against Rafael Nadal – a common trait with Djokovic in Grand Slam tournaments.
He has played just the one grass court event in his build up to Wimbledon but lost in the final in Halle to Tommy Haas in three sets. He comes into Wimbledon with just two tournament victories on tour this year, and the disappointment of him losing his only Grand Slam title, the Australian Open title which he had won in 2008. That now is in the hands of Rafael Nadal
Conclusion
Despite some good performances, most notably against Roger Federer, this year has not been too good for Djokovic. He has only won two lesser titles and has been beaten in three Masters titles, twice by Nadal and once by Murray. He disappointed in the French, going out in the third round and was expected to win on the grass in Germany last week, but once again found one player too good for him.
We do not think he will be winning the Wimbledon mens singles this year and would suggest that he may at best make the quarter finals. Best bets to be made on Djokovic will be in his individual matches.
